Removed the front propshaft to fix the UJ. Much swearing, as most of the nuts were rounded off. Then to mates 12 ton press to get the cups out. Much shattering of cups, needle bearing all over the place, and more swearing. Oh yeah, was shown a trick to help remove rusted in circlips, BFH and a nice chisel

Then, the new UJ is too large, which is very strange, but easy enough to fix.

So ladaBear is now rear wheel drive only, with difflock engaged, or it don't go anywhere. It is a lot quieter at the moment tho !!

At least all the hard part is done LOL

Nice find, Steve.

Today I mostly... finished body filling the Punto (if you don't count a dent on the bonnet) and it started to rain. If it stops soon enough, I'll have all doors painted by the end of the day.

Sounds like my outboard!.. Seriously, well done. 11 in years in boxes.!
Will the smoke go away with use or is that normal for year/model of bike?
Regards.

Changed the central heating pump on the house. Picked up my new glasses. Started looking for a new graphics card.

Then cleaned out and washed the gutters.

Put some more water in the pond, shook my fist and the blanket weed......

Yes, I'm fine. Despite all that's said about the French cars, this particular one was quite proved itself to be quite crash-proof. Got away without a scratch, apart from banging my head against the roof after I unclipped the seatbelt. I was able to push the door open and get out safely. The car is currently in some sort of recovery yard or something, will pick it up tomorrow and sell it for parts.

How? Well, it all happened kind of fast. I was coming into a corner and the car started to go sideways and as I was pulling back I hit the left side of the road and drove over something that made the car flip over.

Today I mostly...

Played around with the new work camera as that model is in the running for my new "always in the pocket" one. My poor little Samsung ES55 is starting to show its age now as something (probably pocket lint!) has managed to find its way into the optical path. It can currently be dislodged by smacking it in the palm of your hand...but that's hardly ideal. To be fair to it though...it's a £60 camera which has survived several years of being carried around inside, outside in all weathers, dragged under cars and buses, having got covered in dust, engine oil and diesel and having been dropped more times than I can remember - the fact that it still works at all I think earns it a huge gold star in my book. I would recommend it to anyone as a point and click.

Image

To be honest, the only gripe I have ever had with it is that sometimes the flash takes an absolute age to charge before the first use. Do wonder if this is a quirk of Samsung compacts of that era though as the ES70 a friend owns does exactly the same. The mic is pretty pants as well to be honest for video recording but as it's not a mode I've ever really used much so hasn't ever been that much of a gripe for me.

This one will probably be passed on to my parents once I upgrade as it's still perfectly serviceable for general snaps.

Also...Finally got around to trying to make the "custom headlining retention system" in my car as "installed" by the previous owner *slightly* less untidy. This was the starting point...

Image

Quite how that managed to escape my OCD tendencies for a year and a half, I do not know.

This was how I left it this evening.

Image

At least there's some semblance of order there now - even though there are still a few clusters of pins holding things together where there are a few tears in the fabric. I used some of the leftovers to sort out the bit around the front which has been flapping around in the wind and bugging me for months too. Would like to do something about the sunroof as well...but as that's just a metal plate under there, kinda hard to do much with it. Sure I do have some really tiny washer-shaped neodymium magnets rattling around somewhere...might see if they work.

Image

To be honest, the headlining just needs to be replaced! I keep meaning to have a shot at a homebrew job using some cheap carpet or something like that (worked in the van!), as the actual material wasn't cheap last time I looked!

I count myself quite lucky there in that the Saab has quite a thick card backing behind the lining so there's plenty for the pins to grip on to so no chance of them falling out really.

Granted, sure I'll find a couple I dropped!

Fixed the hoover. The drive belt for the rotating brush had snapped.
Attached an Anderson connector to the rear of the Landy so I can power spot lights on the Harvey Frost.
Started the brackets to mount spot lights on the Harvey.
Regards.
