Lada 1500 estate

Post by Dexter33 » Wed Feb 06, 2013 11:40 pm

Hi all,

There's a very tidy 1980 V reg lada 1500 in orange at a salvage yard advertised on retro rides. Pictures look a very sound and rare vehicle.

Steve can u post a link. :D

Nice car but it looks ridiculous with those stickers.

Hot air gun and a bit of time will soon remove the stickers...

Good find Julian. I'd love it. It's in Cheshire - how far is that from you?

Anyone know what they mean by Category U?

I had a 1500 estate about 30 years ago. It cost me £75 and I drove it for 2 years. Cracking car. Didn't matter what abuse I gave it it still came up smiling.

I used to have those big magic roundabout stickers on my wardrobe doors when I was young. :D

The U stands for unclassified. Because it's in a salvage yard most cars are usually a cat c,d etc so thay are pretty much saying it isn't an insurance write off. Lovely car in a brilliant colour 8)

The car was purchased by the owner of the salvage yard. He has his own collection of vehicles in a private museum. He decided to sell this one as he has too many cars. The bodywork is very solid, including underneath. Engine starts on the key. No MOT or tax as it's been stood for several years. Seems a good honest straight car. Original chrome bumpers and wheel trims all in good condition.

Will have to spend some time cleaning it up and obviously removing those stickers. Maybe Neil would want them (bit of nostalgia) :D
