for sale: 1986 riva 1200L only 14077 miles! lincoln (uk)

Post by freak » Fri Oct 14, 2011 7:13 am

hi there guys, my name is mark, and i am here to sell an elderly relatives lada riva 1200L. it has covered only 14000 miles, but hasnt been used for 4 years. i attempted to start it today with a battery booster (which unfortunately wasnt fully charged) and only got the starter relay clicking. i have brought the battery home with me to charge, and i will try it again on monday and update you further then. the car is not exactly in perfect condition, it has a dented front left wing with scratches running quite a way donw the car from said dent. it appears to be reasonably rust free, and apart from the old tyres it probably wouldnt need too much to pass an mot!

inside, the upholstry looks in reasonably good condition, with only some loose stitching on the gear stick gaitor.

i think the logbook states she is the second owner, although her husband would have been the first before he died.

im afraid i am really sketchy on the details, but if you would like to know any more specifics, please do not hesitate to contact me and i will gladly provide!

we are open to offers, and all offers will be considered!

now, for the pictures!

i have been over to the car today, the battery went back on, but to no avail, it was better than last time, but still no more than a clicking solenoid, so the battery must have a dead cell. i have asked about the paperwork, and they are going to try and find it and let me know asap.

Probably a sticking solenoid on the starter (smack it with a broom handle - see if that frees it!). A dead cell would mean a dead battery.

im only experienced with dead cells on motorbike batteries, where it looses cranking power, but still powers lights etc.... i'll give the starter a tap next time im over there and report back, however, if anyone would like to make me an offer on it in a non runnin condition?

Agreed. That's a proper shame that is.
