Spent a good portion of the evening unsuccessfully trying to get Openoffice to look at an MDB file.

Trying to help a friend who's putting together a database is kinda hard when A: I don't have Access (well...I do...Access 97!...assuming I've not lost the install CD and license key anyway...though I usually had the common sense to write that on the associated CD), and B: I haven't worked on a database in about ten years.

Going to bed now. I dislike being defeated by computers.

I have no DC's so maybe that helped?
It took me a little while to get the share I set up to be writeable and without prompting for "guest" login.
Having no memory......well that wouldn't help!

Changed oil, oil filter, air filter, greased propshafts and checked levels in other items. All ok!

Applied a little over 6 litres of underbody sealant to the underside of the van. Well...the bits which haven't dissolved already anyway...figure the less that dissolves over the winter before I can resume work properly in the spring the better!

Once again peered at the offside rear suspension arm mounting and sat there for a while scratching my head and asking myself "How on earth do I fix that?"

...The answer I keep coming up with at the moment varies between "panic" and "get a garage to do it" which will cost hundreds of quid no doubt!

Hoodoo: What do you mean all other levels were OK? You mean that your steering box actually *holds* oil?!? I thought an oil-tight steering box was an abstract theoretical concept!

Crawled under the Samara to remove the top heat deflector that had separated from the cat so it doesn't rattle now :D
Checked the gearbox oil level and will top up during the week when I get some gear oil.
Cleaned door switches so that interior light works correctly.
Failed to get under bonnet light to work :?:

Then drove up to the highest point in Hungary to buy some cheap tack :D :D

fiddled (see what i did there!?) about with these:

needs a bit of adjustment but works well! made some little clips to stop the handbrakes ratcheting when you want to use them as fiddles.

Mine holds oil, until it loses it! :D Actually, it holds it as well as I would expect any steering box to hold it! Doesn't need topping up very often, and I spill more than I put in. Keeps the floor well lubricated! :)

Rob-o - those as non-ratchet, with a central ratchet lever that lifts the two? Tidy job, by the way!

Topped up the gearbox oil, painted the wheels black, fitted the fire extinguisher and fiddled with the parcel shelf so that it lifts with the tail gate.
Now off for a walk in the forest with the dog to see if we can see some wild boar then stop off at the pub on the way home and get sozzled :D

Today's a public holiday here in Hungary by the way 8)
