Nope. Bought it for the skinny PSU. The machine is minus the HD. But, it does power up, 2.5ghz Celeron, 512mb RAM. Just one minor issue, the BIOS or video BIOS/chipset is knackered. On entering the BIOS (pressing Del) you get a blue background and the smeared columns of text - its the same with an PCI graphics card.

...a very knackered Macbook Pro (2010, C2D) which had been dropped quite heavily on its side with the power supply connected. Serious dent in the side and the display, turns out the power supply is broken and the hard disk is dead too...

Took me SEVERAL minutes to fix the whole thing; this post was typed on said Macbook. More chuffed than a very chuffed thing right now!

Already done... Very, very lovely Samsung 250GB that I had spare is doing storage duty in this now. I will need to replace the battery at some point (over a thousand cycles already and not looking too clever) and add some RAM. I only has 2GB at the moment but it is coping quite well. In all fairness I have not installed anything other than Yosemite so far, so a bit more memory will become a requirement once I start using this in earnest.

Goes like stink compared to my 2008 running Lion on an SSD. Got unlucky with the 2008; has a 32-bit EFI, so nothing newer than 10.7 for me...

Goody, didn't know that Yosemite did that. I'll keep an eye on it.

This is a really nice SSD I have in here, but having just checked it actually shows Trim as not enabled... Don't know if was enabled earlier. I've only had this machine for a few hours now, so some fiddling and tweaking is still to be done.

I've just installed Trim Enabler. My 2008 has showed no signs of switching Trim off (that I've noticed) on an ancient 60GB OCZ.

Do not mistake me for somebody that actually knows something about OS X..

Just bought one of those new "Segway" things which have no handle etc, must see and experience what all the hype is about!
