Indeed, I can only echo the sentiments of those above.

A lovely guy, easy to talk to and a pleasure to deal with.

He'll be sadly missed.

The words of kindness here are very heart warming in this difficult time for us all.

I have just spoke to my sister who has told me of the idea and I thought I'd come on here personally to thank you all.

I would love to see any pictures you may have, as said, he had an amazing knack of dodging the camera and am only aware of 2 in the last 20 years. A skill I am proud to have developed also.

My sister and I will of course update everyone through the "network", times and dates for the funeral for those that wish to attend.

In the meantime please keep on embarrassing the landys and put a big smile on the old buggers face ;)

hello peoples, yes, its "that" Ged.

along with simon allen and johns children (hi pug, hi sera), im sorting out this memorial for john.

due to a total lack of artistic talents i have taken some pics of a mock up so everyone gets the idea and can suggest any improvements...

after chatting with simon, we have come up with this design. the two 10p`s will be niva flywheels. the two supports at the back (bits of earbuds) will be either half shafts, con rods or another solid bit of lada.

we didnt want anything bigger, as we were worried about them pesky bobble hatters, and didnt want to impose on the landowners too much.
the fabrication will be done by paul at macsport 4x4 who has a long history with John.

the holes in the bottom flywheel will be used to fix the whole thing to a rock outcrop overlooking the wayfarer. on the front of the upright wheel will be a brass plaque, shaped like a niva and with a smiling john driving and James at his side. (imagine looking from the nearside wing, across the car, like you would take a picture)

we could do with someone arty to draw this so if anyone could help, that would be great. i have a good pic of john from last year and a pic of james (you know what a niva looks like).

simon will blast the stuff before getting it over to macsport, where after fabbing it up, paul will either get it galved or coated.

any thoughts or ideas please people? this post will also be duplicated on difflock.

Thanks for listening

Ged.

I should be able to get the cutout easily enough. Do you have a higher resolution copy I could work on?
