Top gear special.

Post by excossack » Sat Dec 27, 2014 9:55 pm

Did any one else spot what suspiciously like a Lada Niva at the first garage they filled up at. Pulled in behind the Pug ?
Regards.

Not seen it yet (and not expecting much to be honest), but will keep my eyes open for potential Niva spotting!

Have to admit to feeling quite let down by that.

Far too much utterly pointless automotive torture for no good reason.

Would have happily owned any one of those three...though admit the Porsche would probably have bored me to tears after about a month.

Did have to smile at the bit where May nearly lost it in the bends. I know that face well from a similar moment in both my Cappuccino and my Riva! ...on the same bend at that...think there's a lesson in there somewhere.

Mustang in particular seemed a real waste, that must be...sorry...must have been a rare car. Looked in decent condition too (let's face it, the gremlins that arose aren't something I would ever criticise a 40 year old car for. Especially being abused like that!)

for a change, its a country im not banned from.

i served 8 months in the falklands and they sort of dont like us.

ive just had my ban on turkey lifted, but still cant go to half of cyprus, most of the old eastern bloc countries and a big chunk of the middle east.

strangely, im allowed to go to Israel.....

Can I ask why you are banned from Turkey?

its on the list mate.

when you leave, you are assessed as to what job you did, what you had access to and what you know. you are then presented with a list of countries you cant go to and for how many years.

most of mine were either 20 years or life bans.

they were worried about kidnappings ect.

they may do things differently now.

my missis was laughing her head off the other day.

beth (my eldest) came home and said she needed to find someone old to talk to about the cold war.

seems she was studying it in history.

she asked if her grandad had served in the cold war (military family)

i was most put out having to explain that no, granddad didnt, but i did

In contrast to the special, I actually quite enjoyed the first episode of this series.

Seem to have gone back to the formula from a few years back.

...and they let Clarkson try to control a hovercraft yet again, which let's face it is always good for a laugh.

...I have never fared much better to be fair! They have always to me been very fun things to play with - but are completely and utterly impossible to control!
