Dacia Duster

Post by slowbob » Wed Jul 31, 2013 6:50 pm

Anyone got any thoughts on a Dacia duster. Dirt cheap new, Renault running gear, made in India. Looks very interesting.

Mainland Europe is full of them.In Eire there not even advertising them as there unable to supply the demand that is for them.By 2015 they will be in the top 10 best selling cars.Thats there target and i would say they will manage this at there ease.I have to say the Duster looks nice.I have met a few people who have bought them new and so far they are very happy, but tis early days yet as there not 12mths old yet.Tis in 10yrs time i would like to see how they performed, but i would think they will be a hugh success.Eugene

I was thinking about a Duster, but, no low range and McPherson struts put me off. Add a salesman who didn't know what low range was and there you go!!! My Niva stays, for another ten years!!

To be honest, the Duster is not for serious off roading compared to the Niva.Low range is a must for off roading.A friend of mine has a Nissan X-trail which has no low range gears and is as useless as a ash tray on a motor cycle when one takes it off roading. Both are road cars only.Eugene

The duster uses Nissan x-trail transmission.
I was never thinking of it as a serious off roader, more a generic SUV.

I'm not a fan of how they look, but have heard good things about them... See loads of them in Europe as eosullivan already said, and they seem to do fairly well.
