Writing CVs

Post by excossack » Wed Nov 07, 2012 9:28 pm

I last updated and wrote my CV about 7 years ago my current job/position and its about time the CV got a refresh with new skills etc.

So....What's the preferred format of CVs these days?

How far back do you go with qualifications, I.e back to secondary school?
Regards.

John,

Depends what audience you are aiming at. It's not a one size fits all. I have several variations of mine dependant on what target audience I was aiming at.

The other problem is that it may not be read by someone who actually knows what they are looking for.

If i'm looking at one for a specific job I dont want to wade through reams of guff and have to weed out the relevent bits.

I saw an absolutely top notch one today that is one of the best I have seen. On 2 sides of paper. I would have interviewed the person for almost any job (except mine obviously 8) ) on the strength of it.
