Where are they all?

Post by Hoodoo » Mon Oct 17, 2011 6:36 pm

A question I've been asking for a while now. The days when I met groups of 4x4 s on the lanes round here seem to have gone. Yesterday, I only met two vehicles. The time before, not one, and even the Farmers say the numbers have dropped drastically. Can't really complain, as things are now as they were ten years ago - peaceful!
The Wayfarer has had the bad hole graded, ditches dug, and generally made good and ready for the Winter - well done to the Council. Wrexham are generally very good in this respect.
The water hole on the Conquering Hero (where Shoguns get stuck! :D ) has a very soft bottom, caused, I believe, by someone parking in it and spinning his wheels! I engaged the locker before entering, felt the wheels shudder a bit as they fought for grip, then cruised out. The locker also helps on the axle twisters where you've got diagonally opposed wheels up in the air! Means you can just trundle over, with no fuss, as opposed to having to take a run at it and flying over (which is all very macho, but rather old hat!). Locker means progress is stately and dignified ( a bit like me!!!) :D :D
Enjoyed the day. Met loads of bikers, a few cyclists, and several walkers, all very chatty. But, where are the 4x4 s??

around here, I'd blame the high cost of fuel. But maybe they've all just become bored of driving around in the luxury of automatic transmissions and power steering.

or maybe, to paraphrase Baxter's bumper sticker, they're all working extra jobs to make car payments while you're out enjoying the peaceful countryside!

i'm convinced that only Landie and Niva drivers are true believers. Of course there's always that one or two exeptions to the rule.
