Insurance Question

What age does a car have to be to qualify for classic insurance?

The Niva needs insured again and with it now being 15 years old I was wondering does it qualify?

Looking on the Peter Best website they mention an age range of
Age of vehicle – 1948-2005

So, maybe its over 5 years old?

From the research I've done it appears to be 10 years old and above £15K in value.

I was offered Classic Car insurance on my previous Riva. That was a 1993 model.

If you go for an on-line quote with one of the many comparison sites, it will automatically find you a classic car insurance policy if you drive it 5,000 miles or less annually.

At that age it should most definitely qualify. The main question would be the annual mileage, generally 5,000 or less, as eveshamsteve said.

We had the Range Rover Classic (F Reg) insured with them on a classic policy and that wasn't worth 15k!

I have an agreed valuation on my 2106. That's "just" £2,500. You need photographic evidence of a car's condition to get "agreed" valuation. Other than that there are no restrictions on value.

I had no problems getting either of my Saabs (89 F plate 900i 2-door Auto, or 86 D plate 900 4-door) insured on a classics policy.

Was Lancaster I was with then I think - they did want the best part of £750 to insure my Riva however - which was when I went elsewhere!
