Re: 1979 Niva / LHD / LPG (Ireland)
I was in Cork recently and never spotted the advert on Done deal and i could have gone and had a look at this Niva, however i am now in Ukraine(Lada Land).I have noticed the price on this Niva has dropped, but not enough to sell it.This vehicle is LHD and 1979 and most likely has a 4speed gearbox.He/She is now asking 1999.00euro,will be luckey to get 200/300euro for it.Being Lhd,petrol/gas and over 30yrs will make it almost impossible to sell.Nivas make a lot more money in UK than in Eire.Mention the word Lada to most people in Eire and the first thing they think off is having to walk away from it after it has broken down.I know these people haven't a clue.Anyway i am back from Ukraine at end of November and if tis still for sale i will go and have a look at it,but i won't be paying the asking price.I will offer him/her 200euro and walk away and leave my telephone number with the seller when they change there mind .Eugene

This advert has been removed from Done deal. Can't believe that someone paid that kind of money for a 1979 Niva when one can buy a new one here in Ukraine for 8500euro.Eugene

Re: 1979 Niva / LHD / LPG (Ireland)
Eugene, i have a 1986 Niva and there is NO CHANCE in te world that i would ever sell it for less then 3000€ ( thousand, not hundred). The same goes for my oldtimer 2101. Not that one of them is for sale. Oldtimers have way more value than '90's and 2xxx cars
Re: 1979 Niva / LHD / LPG (Ireland)
Not in Ireland they don't especially for a left hooker. I think Eugene's being a bit cruel at €200/300, it's worth maybe €500/600.

No David i am not being cruel.I got Kealen Allens LHD for Free as no one would buy it.Recently i picked up a 1991 Rhd for 50euro in good condition.A LHD is almost value less in Eire.Tis hard enough to sell a RHD,let alone a LHD.Tis very hard to sell any LHD vehicle in Eire.It is just the way people are.The only people that may buy a Lhd in Eire are imigrent eastern europeans.I understand in Belgium tis different.Ladas are just almost valueless here.It will b intresting to see in 4or5 years time what a Dacia Dusters value will be here.I have a feeling that they will be like Ladas Valueless!!!!.Eugene

Re: 1979 Niva / LHD / LPG (Ireland)
Well I've finally got around to posting a reply to this. I actually own the Niva in question and contrary to all the remarks its in pretty good nick underneath the red paint. I've had plenty of 'classic' cars over the past years from Rover SD1s through to Zodie III exec down to a 61 Prefect 107E, and thought this would be a change. I've still got a 69 MGB GT with a heritage shell that's taken out occasionally just for fun. What maybe all the critics of this Niva should bear in mind that all pre '80 cars are nct exempt here in Ireland and with a reduced road tax and that makes them just a bit more valuable here.
The Niva had the lpg tank etc removed before I got it and the nameless hammer and chisel mechanic who did so obviously hadn't a clue what he was doing. Result was the engine was just about running and fuel consumption in single figures. A new carb from Hamburg sorted that out at a good price (for me anyway). A purchase of 4 Cossack wheels and tyres, plus 4 wheels with mud plugger tyres for want of a better name, a pair of spare propshafts, a spare transfer box and various other goodies cost me the princely sum of 50 euro from a guy who had given up competitive off-roading and wanted rid of them has given me plenty of spares. I did have to make 2 trips with my trailer to collect them all tho'
The Niva now makes regular appearances at classic runs etc. I met a person on one run who translated the various stickers on the windscreen and told me that it came from Belarus, leaving that country early last September and also had stickers for leaving the Ukraine later that month. And no, if anyone is wondering, I certainly didn't pay anything like the asking price
