Pre sale announcement - now sold.
Pre sale announcement - now sold.
Well chaps and chapettes, an anouncement you probably wouldn't have expected. In the next couple of months I will be selling my Niva. It has languished in the driveway for nearly two years now as I simply don't have the time for it and it deserves better.
The car will have a fresh MOT and may or may not be taxed. I have to replace the outrigger in front of the offside front jacking point and maybe its colleague on the nearside for the MOT, I have new genuine bits from Neil for this job. Other than that the car is in good condition for its age.
The car is a 1996 Hussar with approx 27'000 miles. Mechanically the car is sorted. It starts, stops, goes round corners, the drivetrain is sound and has reasonably bodge free electrics. I will give the car a full service before sale (all oils and filters).
The car was originally white but was re-painted in NATO Green a couple of years ago. At this time the car was completely stripped and many of the typical Niva rust traps were dealt with including the hidden ones. The car was spayed inside as well so you don't get white bits when you open the doors. That said, the engine compartment wasn't done. The paint used was Manor Paints ZinFos 490 which is a straight to metal rust inhibiting paint usually used for ships, oil rigs and such like. It seems to performing admirably.
This is not a showroom condition car. It was never meant to be. It's a well sorted, rough and ready Niva. You get what you see.

Hoodoo lift. Mk 1, anti-roll bar removed.
Extended brake bias control linkage.

This sale is a bit of a shock; totally unexpected! What I will say is that, whoever buys this will be getting a fine motor!

I assume you're selling it to buy another Lada? Perhaps, a Riva.

Re: Pre sale announcement.
Nice one GadgetBoy. Just how I like them, as tough on the inside as they are on the outside. You are going to start a bidding bloodbath with this one for sure, Is it the one you did on your web site. Hope it doesn't mean you are going to desert us, now I'm just getting started. ATB, Andy.
Re: Pre sale announcement.
Yeah, wondered about it languishing for so long. Even so, you do know you'll still likely regret selling it, yeah?
I'll make a bid if it postage is included

Re: Pre sale announcement.
You do realise that as soon as you sell it, they will say we will have the worst winter on record, and the only way to get around will be with a 4x4. So my advice - wait until winter is here and if you still think you don't need it, you will be able to sell it for more money.
Re: Pre sale announcement.
Winter tyres on the Merc, winter mode on the gearbox and it's pretty much unstoppable.
Re: Pre sale announcement.
Hey Gadget,
Any pre sale announcement on the pre sale price, mouths must be watering. Do you think you could give it a quick lick of my favourite colour if I be the winning bid. I do like it...a lot ! [apart from the NATO green, it's just not Lada cream]
Andy.
