Many thanks too you all

Ive done mine now after watching the videos and asking questions-thanks again.

Cant wait too give it a go in the mud.

Just thought id add some of my finds.

As youve said your oil was contaminated- so i decided to before putting props on to put some miles through TC case.

First batch of new oil came out almost grey/silver with lots of bits of metal present(very small)
Also metal on magnetS----i added another magnetic plug to the filler hole Very Happy

I progressed to changing the oil 4 times just too try and take as much out as possible.

When positioning the big gear on the shaft i tried too weld it on with as i was told proper rods for hard steel--these didnt work and cracked straight away (next time i would warm them up a bit??)
Will hope that the interferance fit which i believe is all youve used will be enough?

Well if one will brake it will be mine with my welded rear diff and chunky tyres--Lets hope not though.

Thanks again and ill let you know how i get on

First thoughts are nice contolable power- going over big tyre in 1st Very Happy

Production of modified shafts is halted. Micke can't get new shafts from Russia for the moment.

We could need a realiable supplier that know how to get a good price from Lada and also can help with shipping and toll and all other paperwork at the borders...

The bits are heavy - and transportation easliy cost more than the parts - unless we can find another way to get them to Mickes workshop in Sweden

Ideas?

Welding on the modified countershaft is a big no-no. You will only add internal tensions in the material and maybe even a "indication of fracture" (?) The shrink-fit is more than enough.

Even if the shrink-fit would slide a few degrees, it will "sieze up" (?) at once and be jammed forever!

Sorry about guessing words and using dictionary - hope the message comes though!

We need one countershaft, and one crownwheel from a 1600 TC. That will become a Rockcrawler countershaft. THEN you will need an additional third gear wheel when you put it together, at home

WICKED mod very much recommended.

I enjoyed being able too control a low speed and taking my foot off the brake on a steep incline was easy with the aid of lifting the clutch much easier.

I got a good test 2 days of some very dry and hard surfaces,

I broke a half shaft which caused me too remove my welded rear diff which i wont be putting back in as i prefer it now.

I would strongly recommend this so get your shafts off the man.

Cheers Very Happy

dam dam and dam, I was lining up to buy one of these in a couple of months, now I will have to pull my spare TC apart when I get home and send off the parts, but by the time I get them back it will be too late. Sad

please please let us know if you find another way to get the parts, you are doing the whole lada world a favour and for that you should get a medal.

Good news from Micke! Parts are arriving from Hungary, and in a few weeks he plan to do some new shafts.

Prices will be adjusted and announced here.

You who have written to me and have got none or negative response - please remind me with a new PM!

...and remember we do not do this to make money... have some patience...

Well, a man's got to do what a man's got to do...

3:1 Rockcrawler AND 4,3:1 in the axles...
