Just want to share with you the result of the work of Niva-Micke, another crazy Swede...
This is a shrinkfit with 0,05 millimeter. I dont know all about his methods - yet. He wants to be sure it sticks in one piece first. No bolts, plugs or welding. I will volounteer for testing... if I get the chance... _________________ /mats

Mmm.... there are plans. We are talking about it, about prices, working hours, wheights, costs for shipping, guarantees... But first he has to test it (or someone has to... )
One idea is to offer three "kits":
1. Just the modified shaft. The client then has to find a "3rd-gear-wheel", do some grinding in TC-case and on differential lump. Weight for shipping: 3-4 kg
2. A complete DIY-kit with modified shaft, 3-rd-gear-wheel, modified TC-case and modified diff. Weight (estimated) 10-15 kg. Package: Big!
3. Complete rockcrawler TC with new bearings. Weight: heavy! Package: Even bigger!
We guess that kit 1 is the most intereresting for international clients? The question is - if all the tests work out and quality from producing is reliable: What could it be worth on the international market? Niva-owners are not known for their financial generousity We share good advice and a helping hand instead...
Help him give a hint about what a reasonable price tag would be? No point in trying to do a larger serie if there are no potiential buyers. In Sweden/Norway we have indications around 200€... _________________ /mats

Even with my Pacific Pesos that's in the do-able zone. And I have a dead 'box lying about... _________________ 1990 Niva 1600, Weber & 2" lift

I hate my Jeep!!! I'm doing engine work on it at the moment.
I would much rather complete my french mod, all the parts are done, just have to put it in the T-case!!! _________________ '97 Niva 1.9TID 31" tiers, steel front diff, "The French Mod" T-Case, 4.3 diffs, ZF Servo.

Maybe I missed the thread - but have you told us how you did the French? Shrink/press/weld/plugs? How did cut the hardened steel? ..or is it business secrets? _________________ /mats

The thread is here somewhere. We used a Lathe to cut down the layshaft. We press fitted the new gears on it but don't remember by how much and we used lock tight. And then we added some welds just to be safe!! _________________ '97 Niva 1.9TID 31" tiers, steel front diff, "The French Mod" T-Case, 4.3 diffs, ZF Servo.

Looks like you received your test unit!
I think the other one is a Torsen? I've never actually seen one. _________________ '96 Niva 1.7i Cossack - Daily Driver

Yep, the test shaft is here! It looks very good, and I cant wait to give it some abuse in the terrain. Let's see it can handle the raw, ruthless 1.7i-power...
The other unit, to the left. Well, you have one, aleast. Maybe more. It is the centerdifferential, without its crown wheel. It is machined to make space for the new bigger wheel on the layshaft. I will not use this unit, it is here just for measurning, and my plan is to make a simple rig and use a angle grinder to make the same on my own diff.
The test will include the modifications the buyer of the modified shaft has to do himself, and I intend to use normal tools, angle grinder ans some pneumatic tools. All will be documented in pics and text. Hoping it will be an how-to that will give a potential buyer an idea of how much work it is - because it is not "bolt-on". _________________ /mats
