| Australia got its first Ladas because of NZ. Car bloke holidaying in NZ was very impressed with the Niva (I think Graham West) and convinced Clyde Industries to back an import operation into Australia. |

Gidday all
Hmmm what to say, yea well I'm like the rest of you I have a lada niva well whats left of it anyway, currently in process of being converted to an E Class Trails truck for the NZ trials, everything has been played with on this in fact there is nothing original... hang on the fuel tank I might stick with it, its actually very light, lighter than anything I could replace it with so its staying
As for me, I run a small 4WD custom workshop out of Napier Hastings on the east coast of the N Isld..
thats me time to go to work, also run a logging contract on the side
hey where should I post up a build thread for the toy Baxter
Cheers Reece

Welcome along, mate! Glad you could finally make it...
I met Reece at the OFN.com forum, as soon as I found out he owned a Lada I invited him to join us here. Haven't seen a single pic yet but his project Niva seems very promising.
See you around, mate...
EDIT: You can start your build thread on the "General" forum... _________________ Alejandro Gabatel

| It's got a Nissan turbo DOHC and Toyota axles, etc |
Not quite its a non turbo... the nissan silvia CA18de got all the bracing that the turbo motor has but without the hairdryer
the fun comes when I bolt the super charger on it I'm working on about 250hp thats the reason for the hilux axles
that build thread is for when I was going to run the lada in A class (no mods to axles or suspension) but I kept coming back to the light weight axles and tiny diffs and there is no way they would last, so I jumped up a class and the rear axle is out, in favor of a hilux surf axle (wider than a standard hilux one ) on the original lada suspension as I'm not allowed to change the rear suspension, up front (which I'm working on at the moment) is a hilux solid front axle running a 4 bar linkage with panhard and custom made coilovers

Hi Bax,
chuck me on that list even though I am only in country for about 3 months a year.
Live in Te Awamutu when I am home, am a Marine engineer and cruising the oceans most of the time so this website and difflock provide my LADA fix.
Thanks to everyone that helps out and provides info it is a lifesaver.
My Niva is a 89? 5 speed and it was my daily driver when I lived in NZ, bought it in mint condition and it still is but with a few rust mites and fading paint . but all will be changing when I get some time at home to get my mits into it. I Have a list as long as my arm of mods to do.
Craig

You're on the list....
Looking froward to pics of the 2016.
I run a CRX in hillclimbs down here and I've often thought of putting a Jap screamer into a Lada saloon for a hillclimb car, but the bodies are too heavy imho - well that, and my rwd driving probably sucks badly these days anyway... |
