Nothing wrong with a Merc. Still need to own one at some point. ...well unless the old 308D (which I miss far more than I should) counts!

Bit quicker than my old van was then!

Yesterday I mostly caught up with a fellow local Citroen enthusiast and had a natter and picked up a few freebies as he's having a clearout of stuff not relevant to his own motors, so 1.9TD bits were ripe for the picking. Ended up with a brand new radiator, two cooling fan motors (one of mine is duff), a brand new hydraulic pump and three glow plugs (only need two as the two easy to get to ones have relatively recently been changed). Wasn't going to complain!

Will probably stick the new rad in when I strip the front end down to change the dodgy fan motor and track down the wiring fault to the other one (they are currently cross-wired so the one with the good relay feed is driving the good motor...wheras before the good motor was missing the 12V to the relay coil...). I need to take the whole lot to bits anyway so may as well change it...no point in pulling the whole nose of the car apart twice...

Got called to remove a couple of servers from one of our sites. Turns out the power gets killed on Monday. The comms kit was being removed as we arrived on site which explains why we lost comms with the server!

Took the chance to take some pictures of the internals before the site gets sold and flattened for houses. The building is an old school.
Regards.

When I had the Cappuccino, the top came off pretty much any day that it wasn't actively pouring with rain. Temperature didn't matter in the slightest...that's what the heater, gloves, hat and a thick jacket are for!

Love the colour by the way. I'm a sucker for vibrant cars...

This morning I got up, then proceeded to doze off on the sofa. I woke up after half an hour or so wondering why on earth I couldn't move my legs. Looking down I found this half awake mess looking back up at me.

He then proceeded to grumble at me, tuck his head back in between my leg and the sofa and to go back to sleep.

I decided that he was onto a good plan there, so followed his example. All fine and good until the doorbell rang and he just about knocked the wind out of me as he exited the scene at somewhere approximating the speed of sound.

Most of the afternoon was spent constructing a lean-to between the fence and the green house to shift a lot of the nonsense currently stored in there that doesn't need to be in there to somewhere else out the way.

Sounds like the tyres that were on an Omega that came in as a trade in a few years ago that tried to punt me and Davie backwards off the road without any warning on a gentle curve well within the speed limit.

Probably the only time a bog standard 2.0 Omega has been seen doing a sustained power slide in the dry...we were just bloody lucky nothing was coming the other way as we were going more sideways than forward.

They got binned and real tyres went on before we put it in the sales area!

Good job you did the tyres first and then got the extra grunt, otherwise you may be posting on here from a fluffy cloud accompanied by harp music........

Looking for a bit of help.

I have purchased a VW MK3 Golf estate with a 1.4 engine and it's misfiring under 2k rpm... I think it's fine above that, at least it feels like it. Seller said either plugs or leads need replacing.

I replaced plugs, leads, distributor cap, injectors, oil, oil filter and air filter but the problem still is there.

What can I do?

The nasty spark plug was in the cylinder that is giving me problems.

No blue smoke. Barely any smoke really. Unfortunately I don't have a compression tester, I guess I'll have to invest in one though.

I've seen plugs looking not unlike that where the head gasket has failed as well.

Any bubbling in the header tank or mayo on the dipstick/filler cap?

There's no mayo or bubbling but there is some gunk in the air box. I cleaned it but some of it reappeared.

EDIT: Just what I was afraid of, compression is down on cylinder 4. :(

EDIT 2: I don't want to be this all doom and gloom, so I will leave this picture I took today.
