Unknown what it's running at the moment, looks like the main SoC is one of the PPC E200 series. Precisely which version I don't know however as it doesn't say on the chip. Board annoyingly seems devoid of identifying marks save for the Chinese OEM who made it...will make tracking down data that much harder.

Really looks almost like a little dev board. Need to do some more digging tomorrow...

you know when you try and nick the trolleys from sainsburys and they get stuck on the little mats at the car park exit.

same thing.

when he tries to escape the field, the special coating comes in the blanket immobilises the horse so he cant.

I see. Very clever and dual-purpose as I suppose it is quite difficult to install an immobiliser in a horse to stop it getting nicked.

Today I mostly...went over to a friend's house to strip their dead tumble drier of any useful parts before it gets picked up tomorrow. Diagnosed it earlier in the week as having had a major meltdown on the control PCB which had fried just about every bit of silicon on there and in its PSU. Needlessly complex machine.

Anyhow, I got myself a little pump, quite a bit of good quality silicone hose, few miles of decent quality wire, handful of microswitches, more high power connectors than you can shake a stick at, the heater block and its thermal sensors, and several hundred decent quality machine screws. Didn't bother getting the motor out as that was going to take forever, and I'm not entirely convinced that it wasn't that flashing over which cooked the controller. Metering the terminals was giving some slightly odd readings so decided just to leave that to the scrap man.

It really is quite satisfying tearing things like that to bits...

Other than that have mostly been watching the snooker.

These are items to be added to the "box of misc" which lives in the garage. It is actually pretty well managed, and things do actually get used out of it on a semi-regular basis. If something has been in there for more than a year or two when I'm rummaging for something else, it will usually get pitched. Most of the stuff grabbed here takes up near zero space. Biggest thing is the heater block - which I grabbed for the purpose of being a useful ballast/dummy load when working on higher power electronic stuff.

Pretty much everything here is the sort of thing that I'm likely to use at some point in a project of some description.

I do have a terrible hoarding instinct, that I do not deny. I do however also have a good understanding that space is a finite resource (especially as I'm the one who cleans in this house!), and that keeping "stuff" for the sake of it is pretty pointless.

Had another shot at tracking down the oil leak(s) on the Xantia, and simply came away with tbe answer of "yes."

Need to clean it up more before I have any chance of seeing where it's coming from. ...or just accept that a 198K mile XUD engine is going to mark its territory a little...

Really hope everything went as well as could be hoped with the funeral, Ged. If there's anything we can do to help, let us know.

Xantia is on a 98 S plate, and has the Bosch injection system. It's notable that the fuel pump is about the only thing in the engine bay to be bone dry! Runs lovely, just a horribly oilly engine bay that tends to turn your hands black the moment you walk past the car. Given my sense of OCD, that needs sorted!
