Made a complete tool of myself in front of a load of surgeons. The laptop worked perfectly when I set it up and It worked perfectly when I took it back to my desk but for the three important hours inbetween...well what do you think?

NO!I know embarrasingly little about that sort of thing, and I cherish my ignorance. apart from a day like today when I just look a tad incompetent.

Finally got the pension system in at work and publish to the internet. Started off with one IP address on the server and finished with 3.
All to handle SSL traffic.

Also got the three websites published to the web for the theatre and entertainment venue sorted.

I swear It's another language you are speaking.............I spent the 80's playing Jet Set Willy and The Way of The Exploding Fist when I should of been finding out how they were made.
Today I did nothing memorable or exciting or career enhancing or life enhancing or life changing, I think today was a nil nil draw in the great game that is life. But my Lada keyring came through today, I now have several paper models of a Niva and a keyring, so maybe today wasn't as bad as I thought.

How are you progressing with your MS support call?

Today, checked oil, water, screen wash and brake fluid on the Landy - topped up oil and water
Re-did the earth connector on the welder. Welded better, and then ran out of wire. Just as well I had just finished doing all the welding I needed to-do.
Cleaned up and primed what I had welded ready for a coat of Smalt Blue

Did some painting in the spare bedroom.

That sounds sweet. How much more will the Fabia engine take?

The code hasn't changed - but I did rebuild the dll.
No useful messages either - just "can't load library" :(
Long shot Anti Virus update seeing the DLL as a False Positive ?

Removed three or four years of dust from inside my PC and did some cable wrangling. It was built back in 2007, and aside from a memory upgrade, a couple of drive changes and the air filters being cleaned it's barely been looked at since, so needed a bit of a tidy up. Do wonder where one of the rear expansion covers has gone though...Don't remember what used to be in there!

Also fitted an old Quantum Bigfoot harddrive that I had laying around just for a laugh...serves no real practical purpose to be honest, and will probably come out again before too long. For now though it does mean that my PC sounds like the starship Enterprise powering up when I hit the power button though...Not quite so much so as the old DORS-32160 which honestly used to sound like it was about to take off in my old PC.

...Actually want to give that one a run at some point to get some data off it...need to get another SCSI card for that though, only one I have just now (Adaptech AHA-1542CF from memory...) is ISA...and I don't know whether I can be bothered lugging one of the machines hold enough to have an ISA slot down from the loft for the test! ...Especially the old full tower AT beast which I know is set up for such things at the moment - but weighs about as much as my car I reckon...

I was 200 yards from home on a double yellow and couldn't pull over, by the time I got to my street the counter had gone round...absolutely gutted.

Almost killed a NT 4 server by accidentally removing a hard drive while it was live...NT didnt like that and fell over.

Built a Windows 2000 server on a Quad CPU ML570 G2 server, so three SCSI external tape drives could be used to retrieve some backups going back about 10yrs...

I got a PC to fix for someone. No POST or beeps. So lifted it back home and had a look. Turns out to to be the video card. Tested with a PCI video card and all good. Then tried a PCI-E card and all good, so informed the owner and ordered a new card.

While in the PC I decided it needed a cleaning, especially the CPU head sink and fan

Oh I hate it when I find PCs with that much dust and crud in them. Seriously people...air filters are your friends. As is periodic preventative maintenance.

Do wonder whether the death of the graphics card may have something to do with its cooling hardware being in a similar state.

Disconnecting a harddrive - unless it's intended to be a removable one and has been configured as such - geeeeenerally isn't a good idea. Do remember a few years ago my PC was actually running from an external one (long story...), and I did manage on a few occasions to disconnect either its power or data cable, used to make interesting things happen...
