SOLD Lada Niva for Sale - West Midlands - Green - £750 ovno

Post by SteveTelford » Tue Aug 28, 2012 7:18 pm

******************************************UPDATE - LADA HAS BEEN SOLD********************************* (26Sep12)

Hi all !

Alas its time to sell my trusty Oct95 Niva 1.7i - I had great plans to do it up - even bought over £400 of parts from a German lada parts company - but at the end of the day I have a wife who wont travel in it "because its a Lada and the colour is ugly" - whilst I dont share her opinion one bit - there isnt much point if she wont travel in it ..... and in the current stalemate its just sitting on my drive

Good bits - its got MOT until 12th Oct - its got 'upgraded' (range rover) alloys with good tyres - its got a boot that doesnt wack you on the head thanks to new shocks - its got a parcel rack that is new or 100% as I replaced the bits that were broken - the seats are all 100% no rips (blue cloth) - its got a new front grill and headlight surround - its got new rear lights as the old ones the plastic had gone grey (including the old ones as spares) - its got new mirrors (including the old ones as spares) - its got two new bumpers with new ends and rubber trim waiting to be fitted (front and back) and two new bumper arms (old ones also included as they are still on the car ;-)) - its also got a new back door (unpainted still in box) - new windows pixxxrs as the old ones are corroded but still work - its got a new long section of exhaust fitted (up to the first cat) - its had a new reconditioned gear box fitted and new clutch - it has a set of internal plastic wheel arches (though annoyingly the front left doesnt seem to stay in like the other three) - there is a box with some other new bits in - from memory a window wind and new wiper arm and new washer jet for rear....

Bad bits - the windscreen wiper and indicator sticks stopped working - have asked on the forum and tried the fixes but it looks like it needs a new column stick part as all the connections and fuses are where they should be - it has the usual rust around the wheel arches but arches are still solid - the boot lid is on its way out (hence replacement part) - road tax expires at the end of Aug !!

Simon Allen on the forum has helped me out do most of the fixes so if you want an independent view just ask him

My phone number is 07788 412995 - you can email me on steve@planetearth.me.uk - or via the forum - pics included - I will leave it here for a week or so then it goes to the mercy of ebay - open to sensible offers but once it goes ebay its down to the highest bidder.....
Cheers
Steve

Sorry to ask a rather "random" question. But did you take that tailgate off another Niva, or how did you get it with keeping parts costs under 400 GBP?

I really need a proper tailgate that hasn't rusted dead... But I can sell my kidney for it either.

Good luck with the sale!

You are right - it was probably more I spent - but if you go to some of the [deleted] you can get body parts pretty cheap

[deleted - not allowed to help other lada users with links to any other website apparently]

I used a company in [deleted] but I cant find their name again - will try and dig it out

[Everybody happy now ?? seriously I dont have this hassle on the maser forum.......]

Hi Steve.Keep the Nive and get rid of the wife.Your doing it the wrong way round   .The Nive won't give you any trouble, but the wife will  .Best of luck with the sale
Also it is not nice to post links to otherLada parts sites when Neil on this site(+site owner)is trying to run a business and keep this web site going. At the moment i am in Ukraine where Lada parts are plentiful, but i will not bring parts from here to anyone who wants them, unless Neil cannot obtain them. What you are doing Steve by posting Links is trying to destroy Neils business.Maybe you didn't think about this when you put up the links.Neil gives an excellent service to people and should be respected. This is just my opinion.Regards Eugene

@ eosullivan - this is a forum right ? where people exchange views and trade cars, information, tech tips ? or did I miss something ? I have bought parts from Neil in the past and can also confirm that he provides a very good service - but imo my that doesnt mean I have to exclusively buy from one source - but since you have me rattled its also worth pointing out that the original post was for a car sale - not the boot lid nor an attempt to promote my own business - but since I am a helpful kind of guy I responded anyway - maybe I should be less helpful ? is that your point ? or were you plugging the fact you can get parts cheap in the Ukraine nudge nudge wink wink........

But as you say - its just your opinion - and in the words of Dirty Harry in the Dead Pool "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks." so maybe we are both wrong right ?

Erm....

Think what eosullivan is saying is that Neil will probably remove the link once he see's it anyway as its in the forum rules. We don't post to competitors websites or if we do eticate dictates you message Neil first, he's not unreasonable and I expect if it's stuff he can't supply then there wouldn't be a problem.

I remember your niva going on eBay I think, very solid underneath, if I had the money I'd definitely buy it but i have too much on and not enought disposable income at the moment. Good luck with the sale though.

Phil

Hi Steve. You are correct in saying that you can buy parts anywhere you want, however i don't think it is fair to post links to other places on here,as this site is owned and paid to stay afloat by Neil.It just is not fair.To put your Niva up here for sale is fine and any private parts you have for sale is fine, but to put up links to other sites who are in competition to Neil is very unfair to a person who owns this site.Did you ask Neil if you could put up such links before you posted them?If no,see administrate posts by Neil. Please note i don't make the rules on this site, but i respect them and abide by them.Calling me an asshole is not fair as i don't make the rules on here.I am only pointing them out to you.Regards Eugene

Ach...

Typical that I start such a kind of brawl. And Evgeny, he certainly did not call you an a-hole. It was just a famous film-metaphor that means that "everyone has different opinions, even though not all are alike".

I would certainly buy parts of Neil. But the problem is that I can't pay 300 GBP in shipping for parts that actually costs 100 GBP by itself. My whole life spins around my Niva and my job. An it's impossible for me to pay such credits such randomly, and at the same time, I wish it only the best, to preserve the scarce veteran it is.

I thank Steve personally, and very much too, for his kindness and helpfulness. But I'm a bit sad that it evolved into this, though Steve's goodhearted act.

Anyhow; I ask you, can Neil get me this kind of hardware for an old-style Niva?
