Just got COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE for this car. I have NO No claims to use on it as it's on other vehicles.

£101!

Fantastic. That's through Confused.com.

Fantastic. That's through Confused.com.

It's ridiculous this insurance thing. I've just inherited a Toyota Estime 8 seater bus (superb bit of kit I might add). Direct line, T.P.F&T £1,340. Tesco budget insuance, TPF&T, £652.
Confused.com £180 with £70 cashback after 90days = £110 TPF&T (Swinton insurance)
No prizes for guessing who got my dosh! But how can there be such a wide variation?!!!!

I got a quote of £150 for the Volvo through Confused.com and that was with Swinton. However, when I tried Swinton direct (through the shop in Stratford-upon-Avon) they quoted £300!

I asked why and was told they HAD to be more competitive with the internet simply to get the business.

Obvious lesson is internet is the future and branches with expensive overheads will die out.

Hahaha I like that 110 or 652 Sterling, I know my choice. Wow such a variance. Bit like over here, Even home insurance, Personal health cover, Purchasing things, You'll save a bucketload doing it over the internet.

Yes! £35 per wing. Also getting the front valance (makes sense) just £12!

Have patched the wings for now. Need to find someone that could do a good job fitting the new ones.

Are you far from Paul (NIVAD)? He was offering his welding services.

You lucky monkey, I wish could say the same for my '77 1200! Inspired (kind of) by Martins yellow 1500 I bought mine last year & paid the same as you for it. Alas, Daisy has a lot of rust, or as I call it, character! The garage pretty much R.I.P ed her because of it, but I shall have a second opinion!

PS: Martin, G868 LAW is still going strong :D

Regards

Clare

Don't be put off. Anything can be repaired. You can even buy the outriggers and box sections ready made:

Yours being a very rare 77 model it's worth persevering.

Not too far. When the wings arrive in May I will have to give him a call.

Clare, thanks for that. I often wonder. That car had a great deal of sentimental atachment on many levels, so I'm really glad it's still going> Well done, it was a cracking motor.

She's definately worth the time and effort. After being stood for about 8 years she starts and idles perfectly, she sounds a bit like a '77 Transam coz of the exhaust though!

I couldn't physically or mentally consider the scrappers, that's where I saved her from.

Well, I said I wanted to learn mechanics, and welding! :D
