Ebay related question.

I'm looking to buy something from ebay and i'm doing a bit of detective work on the item. The chap says he bought it about six months ago (maybe on ebay). The thing is, i feel its over priced, he has given me a valuation but i notice that he tried to sell it previously back in May.
I'm wondering if its possible to do like a search via the ebay site of previously similar items that have sold; ie all the electric kettles sold in the past year. This would be handy as it would give me a better idea of it true value and also may show up what they paid for it

I think you can do a search on items that have finished. Not sure how far back you can go. Check his feedback, maybe its listed on there.

The problem is its quite a rare motorbike and they are becoming like rocking horse poo so there aren't many knocking about and even less on ebay.
I think it will only search for items that are still part of an active bid.
It would be a good feature for that site if it were possible to do a search for identical items that recently ended. That way you get a better idea about the going rate. I hate being conned

Best thing i can do i feel is to make some enquiries with a bike dealer i know, they can at least tell me the book price.
I've also since made contact with the seller once more and feel more confident that they are (a bit

) more genuine.

The trouble when things become rare is that the owners know this and price them accordingly. Not many bargains nowadays. Ladas excluded of course.

If you go onto Ebay, and then Advanced Search you can tick a completed auction box and then enter what you want to search for.

While it might be handy to know what he paid it doesn't really matter, as if it's a rare part - it's worth whatever he can get for it.

If you feel it's over priced then other people will too. Perhaps you should decide what it's worth to you, bid, then forget about it.

Have been thinking for a long time that a completed auction search would be a great thing to be able to do. Well that will learn me for not properly looking. Thanks

cheers, just the job. I was sure someone told me you could do a search like that and they were right

Found out what i needed to know. The bike in question is at least Ã‚Â£500 over priced. Think its time to haggle.
