going going gone
going going gone
i have to move to kerry next week, to start a film course (yay!) but i have to jettison the spares 1.7 i have. ive been trying to pillage all i can from it, but without an engine hoist i cant get the steering box out. blah! can i?!
right, now this is the tricky part. the scrap guys will only take rolling stock, so it still has to move on 4 wheels (to go up onto the trailer) , but having looked at it, i think i can take the front halfshafts/cv joints and still have it roll, correct? and maybe the steering box... that'd make it alkward.. and funny
what else should i grab?
thanks for reading!

Steering box x 2
also grab the top steering bar that goes from the steering box to the passanger side idler, another rare spare.
You dont need to remove the engine to extract the steering box.
If your prepared to scrap the car, take an angle grinder to the car and chop around the body work to give you more room.

If your scrapping the shell you can hack it as much as you want as it will be no use to anyone else once its cubes.
Removing the brake master, clutch master and start motor may help the removal of the steering box.
Can you borrow/hire a engine hoist?
Not sure if the rear window is the same as a 1600. If youve got room keep what you can.
When i scrapped my old lada, i removed the cvs from the hubs and used two big/long coach bolts and a bit scrap plate to hold the hubs in place.
Put the coach bolt through the hole where the hub nut was and put the plate behind the back and bolt up.
The scrap yard i used took just a shell away (and i mean just a shell) no front suspension, no rear axle. It was placed on axle stands and the guy came along with a hiab. I had to pay £25 for the job.

Was going to say Keep the ECU (Gadgetboy has a good home for it
). Grab the cylinder head and all the manifolds, TBI unit, T-case/Tranny. Any big ticket items or rares your going to want to keep. Take eveything but the block (Unless someone want to buy the block from you as i recall it was in good running order. (You buy you remove kind of deal.)

yah man this proving difficult. cut the nuts, willdo.
pulled the engine off the mounts, and dragged it out of the way i think ill grind the top of the frame off, where the rad was, and topple the engine out of the bay tomo.
biggest problem, though, is the bolts that attach the steering box to the body, theyre not opening, just spinning freely.
if anyones had this before id love to hear about t! im just perplexed now
