What do you get on top?
I'm feeling a little jaded with ISPs, etc, ATM as I just changed my OrangeBox for an OrangeBox-pro! Now I have the professional version I can no longer access anything by domain name (even though the NAT/PAT rules are set up) from within the LAN!
Dedicated helpline - 7/7, 24/24. All they could say was "we could send a technician out, but it will cost you 150 euros + time"
I HATE ORANGE!!!
As before, same set-up.
I set up NAT/pat to send requests on specific ports to a set fixed IP address on the LAN.
Before it worked - now it doesn't, well it does for the net but not for the LAN. Orange couldn't care less - they say it's nothing to do with the fact that they've upgraded my orangebox
My domain name is elsewhere - it points at the IP of my external IP address. My new Orangebox is not transferring the requests as set up for the relevant ports on the NAT/PAT rules when the request comes from the LAN. Also, any requests for that domain name from all computers on the LAN are being referred to the orangebox and are not being transferred on to the one with the servers on it.
HTTP I could cope with, for FTP it's a pain, - but for CVS it's really the pitts!!!

Wow........
It seems more and more these days that upgrades are no longer upgrades.
N-E Ways.. not much going on here.
Just got back in the house. Yesterday another truck made use of my discount 20,000lb strap and pulled my truck out from a trailer i got stuck under un-pinning (it was buried to the rim on the front drivers axle). Then my Niva pulled the towing truck off the sheet of ice he was stuck on after pulling my truck out. I might just have to get another one of those straps next time they go on sale.
Some random pics i decided to clean off the camera (that i wish i would have had when i had the Niva hooked up to the truck LOL)
BIG riggin
Oops

Stripped down the front valence on the Niva in a record 12 1/2 min (My new best friend is the 40 grit flap wheel!!) found a few spots that need work. Only problem is now it's too darn cold to prime it or seal it.... oh well i'll leave it bare for now and have to prep it again when i can. Got a rare few days off so i might be able to spill some blood this weekend.
It's going to look pretty scarred up when i put a coat of paint over it but i don't care... it adds character.

Today I mostly..... bought myself a little Suzuki SJ413 to tide me over until the right Niva shows up.
Being a bit of a newbie to the world of offroading, I have some questions for you seasoned professionals!
I'm going to pick it up on thursday. Now, I have driven 4x4s on the road before (mainly Range Rovers, Defenders, Discos...etc) but I have never driven them with hi or lo 4wd engaged.
Now when I go to collect the little 'zuki, I'd like to make sure the 4wd drive is working. So my n00b question is, can somebody explain to me how to engage the 4wd and what to look out for?
Any info appreciated.

I take it this is the same bloke from the foodmanchan blog? If so, I'm sorry to hear about his passing... Wife and I used to drool over his food pictures.excossack wrote:Yesterday i attended a funeral of a good friend from work. cracking bloke.

Spent the day putting the head back on a 2 stroke outboard. For those who want to know, its a 70hp, 1979 Evinrude, 3 cylinder.
Anyways, all going well. Head back on, wiring tidied up and ready to start putting the gearleg back on.
As the gearleg is a replacement for the one that broke we did a trial fit first and all went OK.
While its off we started to change the impellor for a new one. Eventually got the old one off as it had rusted to the shaft.
Old one off, and then realised the new one wont fit. The new one is designed for a woodruff key. The one taken off was splined and had a copper ring that expanded onto the splines of the impellor.
So tomorrow its off the the Outboard man to see if i can get a replacement.
The replacement gearleg is a 70hp one, but is suspect its a slightly newer one. Maybe 1980 onwards.
Time to get googling.
