Heh. Didn't know that the frenchies have such fate.
Anyway, today I mostly...
- Bought an anti mosquito / midge spray 'cause t'is the season.
- Sprayed the entire Bora's grille matt black (leaving the badge CF'd) because race car.

I used a jet black bumper restorer on the rub strips. They came out okay, but I think I will respray them soon. I actually hadn't noticed it until now, but yes, it actually is missing the valence panel. Looking on the bright side - weight reduction.
Do you have any pics of your Bora that you could put up here? What engine does it have? It's not the 1.9 TDI, is it?

Took my cone air filter which has a chrome heat shield. Took the shield off, sanded it and painted it matte black. Took off the MAF sensor from the original airbox and mounted in on the cone filter, which required drill as well. Put everything back together, and here is the final result:

Looks pretty neat, nice amount of work gone into it as well.
Seems like it's the same colour as mine as well.

Re: Today I mostly .....
Today repaired the passenger front door on the Landy.
Discovered the Harvey Frost crane had a flat jockey wheel - turns out to be a split in the tube
Replaced the spare tyre for the Harvey with a new one - joys of split rims means I can do it at home rather than paying a tyre dude to do it for me.

Spent most of the last couple days messing around with the C5. It now goes and stops though hasn't done more than a couple of hundred yards yet. Hoping for a longer test at the weekend at some point to see how things go.
We did have one moment of hilarity yesterday during one of the first tests when it decided to not switch off when I let go of the button. This resulted in me approaching the drive at something around mach 5, nearly on two wheels while fumbling madly for the kill switch while managing to beach it in a flower bed. Replacing the motor relay has cured that madness at least, though at least my other half managed to catch my moment of "Ohhh this is going to get interesting..."

Re: Today I mostly .....
...chucked a bucket of water over Ivan the Unpredictable and tried to start it for the first time in about a year. Unpredictably it started. No mess no fuss.
Casualties of the hibernation seems to have been one indicator repeater (fixed by pulling and reseating), left rear light (fixed as per repeater), horn (stripped, cleaned and adjusted; working), left headlight mainbeam (not fixed; bulb seems OK, just doesn't work). I need to check the voltage on that left light, but my Fluke is at work.
Bloody chuffed with that; should pass MOT next Sat with no trouble...

Today I mostly...
Took "Scruffy" the C5 out for the maiden voyage.
Only minor hiccups were down to the chain tensioner being a bit dodgy resulting in it derailing a couple of times - taking all of about 30 seconds each time to fix though. Everything else though worked absolutely faultlessly.
Doesn't half shift down hill though, and even 15mph on the flat feels plenty fast given how low to the ground you are. Surprisingly they actually handle really nicely as well, feels a lot more nimble than I expected, really did throw it around a few corners.
Route took us on a trip of roughly 7.5 miles and took us about an hour with a couple of stops plus the pitstops when the chain fell off.
Here are a few photos from when we stopped in Campbell Park.
Now just looking for an excuse to take it out again...Incredible fun, and surprisingly comfortable actually. Will need to fiddle around with the chain tensioner a bit first though to see if I can make it behave a bit better.

Re: Today I mostly .....
Never been a huge fan of silver in a car to be honest, main experience of it being in a Passat CC a few years ago.
Looked lovely - until you tried to drive anywhere with the sun behind you, at which point it turned the entire dash into a giant retroreflective surface that tried to blind you. Plus it seemed to attract fingerprints even more quickly than an expensive camera lens.
Each to their own though, it's your car and you're welcome to do anything that you want to it provided that it makes you happy. What else are your plans for the interior?
Today I mostly...Discovered a water leak on the Saab, it's dripping onto the side of the block somewhere in the spaghetti behind the water pump (of course, buried under the inlet manifold). Not a major leak, but needs to be investigated sharpish in case it's a sign of something about to go pop. Especially in this weather!
Tomorrow's tasks involve trying to track down a replacement lock assembly for the C5's bootlid (it's apparently a standard size so Timson's should be able to supply one for a few quid) so I can get rid of the bungee that's holding it closed. Also need to tweak the adjustment of the offside real wheel bearing now things have settled in as there's a bit of play in it now I've done a few miles since the bearing was rebuilt.
