Diesel?
Who's going to clock a car the wrong way? There is a Niva in Oz with 800'000 kms on it and I know of at least one Saab 99 with 750'000 miles on it.
There's no reason any car can't do such a mileage with proper care and maintenance.

Taxis down here regularly do over the 1,000,000 km mark on an engine before a rebuild. And they're nothing special (by Oz car standards anyway) petrol 6 cylinder engine (about 4 litres - straight 6 Ford or V6 Holden) running on LPG. Advantages of never really getting a cool off period.

Not a bad motor. Keep her serviced, and change the Cam belt. Not good when it goes....

I have bought cars before with 300,000 miles plus on them, admittedly they have been larger engined than that of yours, but as long as they have been regularly serviced I wouldn't have a problem with buying a high mileage motor. Obviously check for the common things - rattles, odd noises, smoking etc.
Still under 18,000 miles a year (averaged) then isn't it !!

Talked to a courier last week with 80,000 miles on a ten month old van

the garage thinks he's taking the p**s when he phoned up to book a cam belt change.
