I have a bit of an early stage scheme brewing. A friend of mine is marrying a Slovakian girl and the wedding will be taking place in Slovakia in August.
It strikes me that this is a good opportunity to buy a one way flight, buy an interesting vehicle and drive back. Even the girlfriend isn't completely adverse to the notion, so long as we go back via a beach in Croatia which would only add to the adventure I reckon.
So that's the basic plan, I know nothing of what I should be doing, logistics of importing/registering a car back in the UK, so any words of advice or suggestions would be helpful. I have half a year to plan! I should say my plan is to buy second hand at a fairly low bangernomics type price point.
If the plan works I have another wedding in Poland in October...

Re: Car buying in Slovakia
I'd say it's worth it only if the car you are planning to buy is either...
1) Much cheaper in Slovakia
2) Very rare in UK
Cars in Slovakia are left-hand-drive. Also, you will have to re-register the car or whatnot when it comes to UK. You will also have to adjust the headlights as far as I know. I'm not sure how much all of this will cost but I don't think it's very cheap.
