Door handles look to be from a Fiat. Suspension too low for a Lada.

I've seen these posters at a few Texaco's a long time ago. I always thought it's a Lada. :(

I decided to email Texaco

Our ref: 47988

Dear John

Thank you for your email dated 01st September 2012, regarding your enquiry in to the type of car displayed on Texaco branded marketing material.

I can confirm the car displayed is a Lada.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for contacting Texaco and I hope that the information provided will be useful to you.

Yours sincerely,
Regards.

Haha, thanks for sacrificing such for us! It's good to see proper work done. But... Quite interesting that it was a Lada in the end.

Now look I thought this was all sorted out, Mr Cossack I nominate you to email Texaco with the evidence and see what they have to say for themselves. It's totally out of order that a large multinational company such as themselves mislead the public in such an underhand way. Mr Cossack you need to bring them to book and demand some sort of explanation. The integrity of lada lovers (not to mention all those Fiat lovers) all over the world rests on your shoulders.

If Texaco says its a Lada then its a Lada. Can't disprove it by saying its got no c-pillar vents etc. I've seen many in Russia with no c-pillar vents that are Ladas.

Third possibility and the likeliest. It's neither a Lada or a Fiat. It's an FSO!

Seriously I doubt it's any of the above. An ad agency somewhere used artistic licence to change the basic design to suite their requirements - result is it's not any production car. As for Texaco claiming it's a Lada; they probably haven't a clue and just had a vote in the office during their tea break.

Perhaps it's a modified Lada?
