Replaced the gearbox in my Honda CR-X and put a new release bearing on the replacement 'box. However, when we bolted the 'box in the car the clutch lever was solid like the bearing was jamed up against the pressure plate. Didn't even responed to some gentle hamer love. Typically we only noticed this after we'd almost fully finished putting the 'box/CVs/etc back in
Poped the box out again (there's no inspection hole) and there's nothing apparently wrong. Nothing out of place. Bearing measures the same sizes as the one in the old box. Where it locates at each end of the lever's travel is the same as the box than came out. Input shafts are the same length. Nothing I can spot is different, so I'm at a loss to know why the lever locked up.
Any ideas?
Clutch release lever problems?
Re: Clutch release lever problems?
There's nothing really that can go on the wrong way that I can see?
The lever is well attached to the box (and we didn't remove it). The bearing can only go on one way. And we haven't removed the pressure plate.
There was no spacer between the motor and box before that we've left out.
Back to it tonight...

Re: Clutch release lever problems?
The problem turned out to be the lever was slightly bent and was invisabily jaming on the belhousing. Sorted with a big hammer
