i know im stating the obvious but are the tubes/jets the right ones in the right holes ?

Mooshaker's just beaten me to it.

Was about to ask, has the car *ever* run properly with that carb? If not, could be as simple as needing the correct jets fitted and the relevant adjustments being tweaked by someone who knows carbs.

Vacuum advance system etc is all working properly I take it? Lack of dynamic timing will lead to the engine feeling very "flat" for want of a better word - played that game with the Saab too.
