Latest DVLA Scam

Post by Semtex » Mon Oct 17, 2011 8:45 am

Beware, the lastest DVLA scam.

They conveniently "lose" your log book when you sell the vehicle. Then charge you £80 for not taxing or SORNing the vehicle you have sold.

When you query it they don't want to know.

Simple to over come that problem. Get a proof of postage from the post office when you send DVLA the logbook, then if they try and pull a fast one, you can prove you have done your bit.

Simple in theory, however this was over a year ago. They have been sent the new keeper slip, dated and signed by the new keeper to confirm everything.

They didn't want to know.......not acceptable as evidence they said!!!!!

When I then lodged a complaint acccusing them of criminal activity (eg stealing log books) I had a letter within 2 days saying I wasn't the keeper any longer. Now they are trying to screw me for the time when they "lost" everything under the continuas licencing system

Well i'd tell them to stick the fine where the sun don't shine, either that or send them an invoice for your time totalling whatever their charges are. Either way they could go get f****d.

I just about had kittens when I got my first red V5 which was for the van - saw it in the envelope as I opened it, and my first thought was "Oh my god, what have I been fined for?" thanks to the rather threatening looking nature of the thing!

Plus side is that they do seem to resist disappearing in amongst huge piles of paper better than the just blue ones which seemed to be better at blending in.

Keep the red and bin the blue one. There is a flyer that comes with the new V5 that explains the changes.

Dont just bin the old V5 - shred it, as you dont want to find out that someone has gone through your bin and is now trying to get the car registered to themselves
