Motorbike MOT

Post by nitro_warrior » Wed Apr 27, 2011 10:17 pm

Once again it's time to call on the forum's expert knowledge on everything.

I am now the proud owner of Motorbike. Unfortunately the motorbike is not the proud owner of an MOT. It should pass but only has one (offside) wing mirror. I have a new pair on order, but do I actually need two mirrors for the MOT?

Cheers.

I don't think mirrors are a legal requirement.

It's a dodgy Chinese thing. Anyone's guess on how the name's pronounced, it's a Xgjao 125A. Kind of like a copy of an old Honda CG125 but with a 2cyl engine.

But it was cheap, £350, '06 plate and an unbelievable 135miles on the clock so it's like new.

I'll get a picture up when I get a chance

Go round every nut, bolt and screw and tighten them up. The only issue with the chinese stuff is the build quality. The actual bits are fine - they just don't bolt them together that well.

Give it a service with western plugs, filters and oil and you're good to go.

Yeah I've already had a dodgy bolt on the brake lever. And I'll service it once it's finished it's 600mile run in period!

A lot of folk knock the Chinese bikes but I figure it's much the same as Ladas, if you look after them right there shouldn't be any major problems.
