My niva on 750/16 tyres :-)
SimonAllen wrote:it's not taxed and tested at the minute so I don't know how it drives properly. I have taken it down my privateroad though and early indications show not much difference between these and my 205 16's or 215 15's. I always thought it was a bit low geared for the road anyway though. 90mph was a bit noisy
I run 4.3 diffs in it, but my gear ratios are pretty much infinate with the auto box effectively.
All I have lift wise is my cross member lift on the front, and two sets of hoodoo spacers on the back. I have cut all the arches back to where they just start to go downwards after the radius away from the body. I re-welded the rears back together, and then have had to beat the outer extremities of the front inner arches. they have had to go back quite a bit, almost to the chassis outriggers, but I now have an inch and a half clearence on full lock.
I'll know next weekend if what I have done is enough I guess. I think I'll have to adjust the rear bump stops a bit, as I used to be able to stuff the 205's right up against the top of the rear wheelarches anyway.
You should cut away about 10-12 cm of the front and rear arches !!!

I want your wheelarch extensions!
No problem, a guy in Norway makes them. Cost is about 5000NOK. PLuss shipping.
The other option is to get fiberglass arches from an MK1 or MK2 Hilux (i don't remember which one) and modify them. My arches is made in a modified mold for hilux.
Then again, if you don'd dare to cut the arches, what is the point??
They don't fit unless you cut at least 8cm
