Today I mostly .....
Re: Today I mostly .....
Hahah.
I think it's time for a new car. Any thoughts about a 1.4L 6N Polo?

Good luck with that. Sounds like you are not too far from me now. Are you in Oxford or one of the surrounding Villages?Zelandeth wrote:Today I mostly...

Kidlington just now. Soon to be Milton Keynes by the sounds of it (though still hardly a long way away!).
Offer has been accepted and the house will be taken off sale for us now. Just need to get final approval on the mortgage (though we've been assured by everyone involved that we have nothing to worry about), then assuming that the survey doesn't throw up anything horrific should be on the way to being sorted.

Could have been worse. Could have been open and fallen out on the motorway!
Re: Today I mostly .....
Replaced the main battery on the Landy. I replaced the old 650cca/90ah battery with a 830cca/100ah battery from Varta.
Replaced the bracket that holds the alarm siren in place. Not bad service. Ordered the bracket at 13:40 on Friday and by this morning at 10:00 it arrived in the post!

Sorted out the paper work for the Landy, all the service bills, parts bills and misc bits into date order and then filed in year order.

Re-discovered how much my Saab doesn't enjoy cheapie supermarket unleaded. Really isn't a fan! Back to the V-Power next tank methinks...
Dragged myself around more banks today making the obligatory mortgage enquiries to see who's offering us the best deals.
Also gave some more serious thoughts to possible future cars.
Once we get settled in the new house, one of the first things to be happening will be a dog being added to the family (as the only reason this hasn't happened has been the fact that we've been living in rented accommodation and having to deal with a no pets rule). This practically speaking really means that a suitable motor to get them around in comfort will be needed - Two of the cars in the household are company cars, so a no-go there. The dog ain't going in the Skoda, simple as that. An estate would be ideal really.
One of the motors I've always fancied but somehow have never owned is one of the "Classic" Volvos. Preferably a 240...though would also consider the 760...don't really know these cars too well though! So curious before I think too far about it whether anyone here knows anything about them and what I should keep my eyes open for.

Re: Today I mostly .....
I had a Volvo 760. Excellent comfortable car with plenty of power. There is a but; they are very very thirsty and the engine is not as reliable as the 740 or later 940. A top spec 940 would be my choice. Still a few around so you could find a good clean example reasonably easily.
