Finally got around to gathering together all the bits I need to get a proper outdoor light in place at my parents place.

1x archeic magnetic ballast for 35/55W SOI/SOX lamp.
1x 1970s GEC made remote gear 35W SOX street lighting head. 1x Bunch of screws and bolts to secure it to the side of the building.
1x length of foam rubber to replace the 40 year old seals around the bowl which have all but dissolved. I've got a couple of part worn 35W SOX lamps rattling around somewhere, so one of them will get pressed into service.

Will probably fit it next weekend weather permitting.

Power usage will be low enough that it can just stay on overnight (I might fit a photocell at a later date if I find one rattling around in a box somewhere), especially given that the 500W halogen movement detector thing at the moment switches on every time so much as a moth flies in front of it anyway! Probably why I keep needing to change the lamp about every 6 months.

All because the aforementioned streetlight which I'd forgotten about around ten years ago fell over from the corner it's been propped up in and scared the living daylights out of me when I was shifting stuff around yesterday. Figured I could do something useful with it!

Carried out 4 Car driving tests under assesment, didn't do too bad. I thought it would be easy becoming a driving examiner for work but its actually hard.

You need to; Direct, note fault, observe all road signs and users, watch the driver, brief the driver, remember the set wording, remember the route, act on a route detour due to candidate or road situation, and more.

Another 4 in the morning, got till next Wed to crack it and pass before moving onto the LGV part for another week and a half....Mind blowing...

Ordered a pair of 'Snow Socks' for the van, ready for the return of the snow.
Can't find A/T tyres anywhere - to do with the weight requirements.

3 ton + laden, which is what they go on. I tried re. 4x4 tyres but they said a definite 'No'. Still, the socks are cheaper and more effective, so make more sense!

The A/T tyres I've got for the Niva would fit, but they would be illegal, and the depot said they would flatly refuse! Good for them too!
Now I just need the weather to try them out, after I get them, of course! :D
