Ah, lesson I learned many a year ago - there are at least three million different colours of white. When you need paint, you can always find the 2,999,999 shades aside from the one you want.

Today I mostly...Tried to drain coolant from the 306 to change it and discovered that opening the drain valve does nothing. This is rather a pain as the bottom radiator hose is pretty much inaccessible...so I just siphoned most of the water out of the header tank and topped it up. It had new coolant last winter and is only sans what it lost when I changed the thermostat earlier in the year so fingers crossed will be OK until I get a chance to attack the problem properly. This was after I chipped my way into the van to get to the bottle of antifreeze. The aftermath of sleet followed by a flash freeze is always fun. Should have taken a photo! Whole van was encased in about half an inch of ice.

Drove 40 miles to the slindon safari 4x4 site for a pay and play, popped an inner cv within 20 minutes... Did a quick 2wd conversion and drove the 40 miles home! One of those days!

Picked up my partner from the airport. First day actually together in the same country officially after...eight or so years of planning! Hasn't really sunk in yet for either of us - just been kinda wandering around most of the day while waiting for jetlag to dissipate.

Drive back from the airport was somewhat interesting as well thanks to snow last night. Our carpark at the moment is like a sheet of glass - Took a run at it on foot earlier and was able to slide a good 30-40 feet on the level in shoes with good tread! Somehow I managed to get into a parking space - even though I had to resort to going in nose-first using tarmac left where another car had been parked. Reversing up the hill just wasn't going to happen!

Actually this time i left the prop on, But I carry an old outer cv outer cup, so I can remove the whole driveshaft and still be able to tighten the wheelbearing.

With any luck he will get in touch and want to part with it, here's hoping :D
This one per chance?

Today I mostly.
Had a panic - I hadn't got a present for my mum!!
Went for a meal - mates 40th
Tidied out the dresser shelves and made room for the new set of glasses.
Prep'd the meat for tomorrow - slow cooked leg of lamb cooked in a slow cooker with chopped tomatoes, red wine, stock and seasoning. - yummy
Regards.

For want of anything else to do, I swapped out a rear axle shaft with my spare, then rebuilt the old one to go back in the Niva as a spare.

Today I mostly...

Drove from Aberdeen to Brackley. Not a bad journey, lost about half an hour to traffic around Birmingham and a few minutes to a bit of navfail in the vicinity of Glasgow (as always!), but not bad.

Thankfully I had a tailwind today as last time I made this trip I had a 40mph headwind which the poor little 107 really didn't enjoy, leading to fuel economy of below 35mpg. This time it came out somewhere around the 50mpg mark which is a bit more reasonable!

Would rather have made the trip in the 306 to be honest, but given that it's not covered by my breakdown cover, I thought that taking the one which IS covered by the full breakdown assistance/recovery plan was the most sensible option! ...Being 2 years old and with <15K miles on the clock rather than 15 years old and 108K also made it seem rather more sensible.
