The keg Q

Post by madman » Mon May 11, 2009 4:51 pm

A friend of mine asked me to build something for a prize at his wedding social this past Saturday. He was thinking about a fire pit or something of the like. I thought that was boring so I came up with a better idea...

A 50000 BTU propane beer keg barbeque!

It cost me $480 and one long week to build it. I almost cried when a stranger won it. Oh well I guess I can always build another one for myself.

Sorry! I was in such a rush to get it built (I only had one week to get it finished) that I didn't take the few seconds to take any build pictures. Not that they would have been very exciting anyway, just some pipe and a grungy old keg cut in half.

Well, if you can do such quality work being in a total hurry I can't start to imagine what could you possibly come up with having a little more time on your hands!

Outstanding work as usual, Hombre Loco!!!

It's rather strange to see gas BBQs in my neck of the woods, seems like most people still favor good ole' charcoal as a "heating element"... Here's a couple pics from the last one we made @ my mum's home:

Prime beef (can't for the life of me remember the english name for that particular cut), italian and spanish sausages @ full sizzle:

We call it Yuca, which is spanish for Cassava or Manioc.

It's a tuberous, starchy root which has a potato-like texture and is quite popular around here as a side serving.

Boiled (as shown in the picture) is great, but if you cut it in small pieces it makes EXCELLENT fries...

Come visit any time, and I'll be waiting for you with some Venezuelan-style BBQ...

EDIT: AND BEER!!!

I must admit. A gas barby is just an outdoor cooker. Proper barbys have charcoal.

My 16 yr old Weber is going strong.
