Need some advice from experts. My 93 year old grandfather passed away in January and has left a G reg 1989 registered While Lada Samara 1.3 Ltd Edition Hatchback, with 15,000 miles on the clock
It has a Full Service History and is taxed and MOT'd until October 2009. 1 owner from new and for the past 10 years has been used twice a week to get to the local shops and back. It has been garaged througout its life and well maintained
Hence the posting on this forum and wanted some advice as what the car is worth and if there is a market for such a car
Any advice would be appreciated
Will get some pictures if requested
Cheers

Hi Alan, as I'm sure you're aware, Ladas are very much a niche market. Any car with a decent mot is worth at least £200, but any car is only worth what someone will pay for it. From what you say, I would think £500 is a realistic price, bearing in mind that it bears the Lada badge and as such comes with stigma attached (completely unjustified) The 1.3 Samara is surprisingly rapid and agile, very reliable and superbly easy to maintain. No doubt someone else will add to this with similar sentiments.
Do you have some pics you could post/ email on request? All of us on here are true dedicated Lada freaks so if you have any interested buyers show them this site. Spares are cheap and readily available. Do you have a price in mind? I would dearly love another of these, but finances/space/wife and new baby mean that it is probably beyond my reach! Good luck, and don't be beaten into selling for less than you want just because it's a lada, they are REALLY great cars!

Thought I'd look in as it's been a while since I've posted here.
It would have been nice to see a few pictures of this Samara as it does sound promising. Low mileage examples do come up on a regular basis, but often at a lot less than what's been suggested for this one.
Actually paid £60 for an '89 with 20,000 on the clock and a little MoT & tax. Admitted, it was scruffy - and it had a cracked windscreen which cost me £100 to replace.
Thinking of selling it on as it happens. I'm checking out resale values on new cars to see if it's worth taking advantage of the new govt scrap scheme. I mean two grand for an old Samara(!) but we'll see.
Anyway - hi to all you peeps. Hope all's well.
