UAZ 452

I know it is not a lada but this UAZ has got to be worth £3500 - but what the hell do I know  ? One thing I do know is that a work friend of mine from Estonia has run one of these as a camper van for many years. He tells me they are extremely easy to maintain and parts are no problem - but you must be handy with basic tools. Any thoughts or comments on these vans - anybody ever owned one or drivern one? :?:

£3500!!!!!! I'd think about parting with £1000 but no more.

 I guess £ 3500 is a bit steep! Especially if you consider the cost of shipping and all the other crap just to get it home...

And if you went to somewhere like Kaznějov for example you'd probably get one for £200.

I would not be surprised if you could not get a nearly new one for £3500.... if you so desired?

I've been in one. Uncomfortable as -_-_. Was thrown from side to side on a good road.

I have also been in one and yes it was a little basic but I would not go as far as to say it was uncomfortable?? Could have been due to the fact that it was slightly modified and had volvo 360 seats in it. but the heaters were great and it did what it is supposed to do... off road in extreme conditions!

Tin can? Are you talking about the van or uaz 269 (jeep) :?: I seem to remeber the uaz469 jeep feeling rather solid. But as I say it was slightly modified and had decent seats!! The Uaz van I have never been in!

Daily transport from accomodation to work for 2 weeks in a Belarus hospital. Not comfortable, fume filled, noisy and typically soviet! Fantastic as part of the experience, not so sure I'd want to be rushed to hospital as a patient. A 2 hour trip to Minsk left me with a sore ??? (got to be a joke there for the more depraved amongst you) and a near-death experience from the exhaust gasses. Excellent over rough terrain too, very well sprung. I'd have one.
Slowly (very) being phased out in Belarus in favour of a transit looky-likey. Still hundreds of them in use though.

Hi Martin !! Isn't £3500 for Sweden a bit steep ??? ...

Was it a bit like a massage from a Swedish Prime Minister ?? .. oops .. .. oops ..

I BET the heater works better than my ones though !!

I spent a lot of time this fall in one, driving back and forth to a camp at a former nuclear test site in Russia (before I irradiated my Niva.)

Parts are cheap, 4x4, easy to fix, durable, floats like a drunk butterfly over the worse roads (like the ones we were on), and is even better on the bare steppe. I'm thinking of buying one as a crew/equipment vehicle.

That price is waaaay to high though.
