How can it be a T reg?

When index plates were letters, numbers, letter, (viz ABC 123 D), the first Rivas, (the 1300), didn't appear until the Y reg and when plates ran letter, numbers, letters, (viz A 123 BCD), the last Ladas were in the R reg period. In addition, the 1.6 SLX finished before that.

My Riva (or whatever) 1.6, twin headlights model was a 'T' reg.

The 1600 with twin headlights was not a Riva.

The Riva wasn't introduced until 1983 on a Y plate. It was initially available only as a 1300 and was fitted with a cam belt instead of a chain.

With the exception of any with personalised number plates, there were no T reg Rivas

Also, if it had double headlights it would have been either the 1500 or 1600 saloon.

[quote="Geoff Stainer"]The 1600 with twin headlights was not a Riva.

Didn't say it was :o ! The use of the word Riva was to indicate a rear wheel drive car, and the use of 'whatever' was to indicate that it probably wasn't a Riva :o !
It was a 1.6 saloon, with twin headlights, and it was a 'T' reg. And I did put a 2lt twin cam in it, and it did go like a bat out of hell!

Fair enough. Been clearer though if you had said "saloon."

Agreed! Like a lot of other people, I am at a total loss when it comes to model numbers for Ladas without names. To me, a Niva is a Niva, not a number, any rear wheel drive saloon or Estate is a Riva, and a Samara is a Samara. As for variations within model numbers - forget it!!
My apologies for getting it wrong!
