Post by GaryS » Tue Jan 01, 2008 5:18 pm

I am looking for the above 4WD, must be in VGC. This vehicle will be used for my work as a Rural Pest Controller, must be reliable. Looking to spend up to £1000 for the right vehicle.

Will travel a reasonable distance from Devon for suitable vehicle.
Please PM with details.

There are two very nice ones available right now.

Just to avoid any confusion. There's no such thing as a Hussar or Cossack. They're merely trim levels applied by the importer. What you're after is a Niva.

Both of those are the 1.7 injection models, better power and probably a little more economical than the 1.6 carb models. The 1.6 models are very capable vehicles too - but if you are looking to spend that amount of money you are possibly going to be looking at a very late '95 onwards and also one in very decent order. Good luck in your quest.

I really know very little about these vehicles, but if the models listed are capable of carrying out what I need then these models or similar will suffice. Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Is there any other web sources where I can see these vehicles in action ?

They are phenomenally capable little vehicles. There is more experience and knowledge about them on this forum than anywhere else.

Have a look at the online photos on the club website:

there are people in new zealand & australia who use them mostly on shingle/gravel roads for rural post delivery, clocking heaps of k's without a problem.
some of them have tried hilux's & other makes, but they're very expensive to run & maintain
