A woman sitting in an Adelaide restaurant suddenly began to cough. After a few seconds it became apparent that she was in real distress, and two locals, Kenzie and Stuart sitting at the next table turned to look at her. "Kin ya swaller?" asked Kenzie. The woman signalled 'No!', desperately shaking h...

[quote Hoodoo] The use of the word Riva was to indicate a rear wheel drive car.

Fair enough. Been clearer though if you had said "saloon."

The 1600 with twin headlights was not a Riva.

The Riva wasn't introduced until 1983 on a Y plate. It was initially available only as a 1300 and was fitted with a cam belt instead of a chain.

With the exception of any with personalised number plates, there were no T reg Rivas

How can it be a T reg?

When index plates were letters, numbers, letter, (viz ABC 123 D), the first Rivas, (the 1300), didn't appear until the Y reg and when plates ran letter, numbers, letters, (viz A 123 BCD), the last Ladas were in the R reg period. In addition, the 1.6 SLX finished before that.

Technical Information Required, (But Not Lada Related)

Good afternoon All. As you all know, I am now Lada-less  but knowing what a great bunch you are and how knowledgeable you are, I hope you won't mind me asking a technical question. Both my Volvo and Toyota are fitted with a tow bar and single socket, but having recently acquired a caravan, I am...

It's looking bl**dy good!!! She hasn't looked as good as that for a long time; the body shop have done a great job. Makes me wish I hadn't sold her, but I sincerely hope Torsten has as much fun with her as I did, both at shows and events and on the road. :D Kev, have you done something to the roof l...

Agreed.

They don't have mechanics anymore, just fitters.

Mechanics repair things, fitters just fit new parts.

Okay, I tried to be clever and used an online translator. According to that, what I said was "My apologies. I would say £50 plus p+p."

The same translator also said that Martin said "How much will it cost?"

For clarity, let's stick to sensible normal language, i.e. English or German only please.

Yes, I am defending the old 240 LOL I can't fault it. But I love Ladas, until last year I have always had one, but now I am Lada-less for the first time in thirty years. Broke my heart when my Lada police car went. (The things we do for women eh?) The last three wanted me to get rid of my Ladas, but...
