Indeed - I'd certainly be proud of it. Couple of new wings, tidy the arches up and give her a good polish & wax, then the job's good. Assuming of course the body's not in significantly worse shape than it looks. Purely the location that's putting me off. That and the short MOT - I've already got thr...

If it weren't for the fact that Kent is rather a hike from Aberdeen, and I don't have any days free to get it - I'd be after this one like a shot...EXACTLY what I'm after! Ebay Link - Riva 1500 Estate Never actually seen one with the tan interior before aside from in the brochures - in my humble opi...

I know that feeling! Present status: Skoda 135 RiC - Broken gear linkage, kingpins that will need attention for the MOT (end of feb), duff lambda sensor, and noisy clutch release bearing. Oh. and a couple of minor bits of welding too. Saab 900i Auto - needs welding (major!), two CV boots, two ball j...

That'd certainly be interesting! Not sure it's worth it though. These are cars that can seriously shift if set up right. 135's a lot more smooth in the power delivery than the 130 was, and isn't quite so racy (still don't know what its top is though). Reckon you'd have a job making a car with an eng...

Yes - 55mph into the side of a gas tanker that shot a stop sign in front of me (wrote the tanker off too). ...this was the result. http://zelandeth.artamir.org/cars/estelle/endoftheline.jpg Still runs though (well...not just now, as I've nicked the distributor cap after the centre pin fell out of my...

Rear engined Skuds (at least the Estelle) has conventional CV joints as with most front engined front drive cars...the inner ones of which are now unobtainable. So you make sure you look after them! ...especially given how much of a pain the drums are to get off, even WITH the correct tool. If you'r...

Thanks for the tip. I've actually got the parts here to sort it - just that it's a real pig to get to it to change. Manual states that the engine & box have to be removed, but I've been advised that this isn't true, and that it can be removed - if with difficult, with everything still in place. Will...

Soon to be wanted - Riva 1.5 Estate
Well, the nightmare that is finding parts for my old Skoda is finally driving me to consider turning back to the Lada side of things (That and realising how much I miss the Niva!). I can get most parts...but seem to have to wait a week for a lot of them. No good when I need the car pretty much daily...

Not mine unfortunately, but if I was in the UK right now, I'd probably be taking a look at it.
Can't tell from the photos what sort of state the bodywork's in. Figured it was worth a heads up though.

Cars you only realised you liked after you sold them...
In my case, one I got in a real hurry when some idiot in a gas tanker drove into my much loved Skoda 130GL. I was at college at the time, commuting daily, and we don't have a bus service. So I needed transport instantly. Help arrived in the form of a very, very tatty looking 1994 Mk IV Ford Fiesta 1...

Fords do seem to have a tendency for battery problems. Remember my fathers Sierra killed its battery one day for no readily explicable reason, a year later his Mk IV Fiesta did the same, and when my "temporary" Mk IV Fiesta was in service, it did the same...in each case a new battery solved the prob...
