Re: Niva in Boston

I think 'R' reg was the latest I've seen.
Depends also when they get registered by the dealer.
I once nearly bought a 'J' bluebird yet primeras started at 'H'.
Was this niva owned by Sam at practical classics - looks simular?

You must have had a full time photographer with you that day!
Even saw the wife on one of them.
Didnt sound like the best of journeys home though.

Re: Fuel calculator website

yes that was the funny box thing! I got single figure mpg from an autochoke carb but it ran very well, then I think i got 20's mpg from a brand new weber. I do live in a hilly area and in the 90's had a heavier more youthfull rightfoot! Interesting to see the pics - good luck with the rest of the mo...

Re: Fuel calculator website

doubt you'll get much more than that unless you drive like standing on eggshells, in which case whats the point. I had an a reg for a few years which wasnt much different i think. Interesting to see pictures of how the project is getting on, quite different to how it looked. I went to view before yo...

Re: SWAP- 1991 Riva 1.5l Estate for a Niva?

just get some 'all-season' tyres, make sure they have the snow flake in the mountain symbol and it will be fine in the winter and can be kept on all year. Me and the wife both have autosock snow socks under our seats and havent used them for a few years since getting better tyres. The riva looks too...

Re: crich 21oct12 - Nivas, rivas & pre-rivas +lots others.

its probably 5 years since the last red october event at crich I went to and i think more cars since then. None of the V8? tatras I saw then but more motors in total. At least 6+ ladas I think, from a 1970's pre-riva to a 60 reg niva, in addition to ones mentioned above at least 2 FSO's, moskovitch'...

crich 21oct12 - Nivas, rivas & pre-rivas +lots others.

annual event at the tramway museum for cars from the other side of the iron curtain. After taking the kids on a couple of rides on trams, walk through woods, playground etc etc noticed at least 2 nivas, 2 riva estates and a very nice pre-riva lhd police car. Many other motors, wartbugs, many trabant...

Re: niva hussar

handed the keys for the twin cam to a nice couple who got the train up today - he's already been studying baxters and intends to register here tomorrow! Feels like its gone to a good home - I'm already watching ebay - nice riva estate going but not sure I fancy a horror carb. Prob best to wait until...

The twin cam is going back to a very nice chap from essex who has been looking carefully for a while and is very keen on nivas - and so is his wife who is also coming to collect with him. In the last week we've exchange numerous emails and its clear its going to a good home. Lession learned is to ch...

oops - the link was for a set or rubber moulded rings/spring lifts, with moulded in slots to hold springs in place, all in inc del for about £26 - got to be cheaper and easier than trying to make own.

Re: Today I mostly .....

went up to where the twin cam hussar is to look for missing fan switch wire - decided it was getting too dark for such activity so went for a quick spin - when light and dry now also have to look into why headlamps stopped working - dip is ok, a relay clicks into main beam but nothing from either li...

It was for that guidance as to what switch was ment to do what - but think I'm probably there now. 15 years since my last niva - which had different dash etc - funny how people dont remember what car someone had 5 years ago but everyone I know since getting this twin cam hussar cl...

Re: Today I mostly .....

have viewed your site many times - another good source of info thanks - was looking for the 1.7 drivers manual not the maintenance manual - ie what you would have got with the car when new. Seen 1.6 ones but not ones covering the later model with newer dash etc.
