Scammer Targeting Car Forums

Just spotted this on the UKSaab forums - and figure that it's a good idea to get the word out to as many folks as possible. There's a scammer out there who's knowledgeable in cars, and know what people want. At the first sign of anyone wanting to pay cash on collection, he goes all quiet. Accepting ...

Now that IS handy...think I'll bookmark that. Not sure how far I'd trust it (has 30psi all round listed for my Rapid...I don't think so! 22 in the front and 26 in the back, otherwise it'll bounce around like a cartoon car!) Certainly handy for a ballpark figure though, and it seems to be right on th...

My two favourite pieces for testing a setup like that actually come from the soundtrack to the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. The tracks in question being "The White Tree" and "Minas Tirith" - very "big" instrumental tracks. Okay...will rephrase that...absolutely bloody HUGE instrumental tra...

What's the most economical car you've ever owned?

Topic says it all really! I ended up looking rather stunned when working out my fuel economy figures for last week. The tidy enough but currently very pink-red 93 Corsa 1.5TD which I grabbed to get me mobile until the Rapid's fixed managed to average a rather staggering 68.3mpg with a mixture of aro...

My advice here is to keep your eyes on eBay, they do appear now and then. Especially down south - which given you're in Essex should suit you just fine.

...unlike me in Aberdeen...which is why I don't have one yet!

So here it is, Mr Eco. Finally got my insurance covernote today, so got the Corsa taxed, and have given it a proper drive. Managed to drive all over the place today, and over 140ish miles, managed to get an average of 68.3mpg...think I can get used to that! Especially as I wasn't being intentionally...

That one I do know - same basic lump as used by Triumph in the Dolomite, in fuel injected version at least on the Dolomite Sprint, not sure if Triumph used it with injection elsewhere. The company which actually designed the power unit I can't remember off the top of my head, that's lost in my forge...

Know I posted this earlier...but it appears to have vanished! Reckon I must have clicked preview rather than submit... Thanks for the turbo maitenance tips, I do at least know how to treat it in terms of letting it spin down and cool off before shutting the engine off, as I was looking at getting a ...

Public transport?!? Don't have any! Got the Corsa in the end, working on the basis of trusting who I'm buying it off, and that there's dozens of them in the scrappys around here to get any bits I need off, and aside from a few niggles, is a fine enough car. Niggles: [] Rattly bonnet. [] Broken retai...

Figures...I've been hunting around for a car locally for a couple of months now in the "Cheap stop-gap category" with nothing appearing...and then two come along at once. On the one hand, I have a 96 N plate Volvo 440Si, with a brand new test on it (to 13th Jan 2008), taxed for the next couple of da...

Hmmm...a 5.7 litre V8 Volvo 240...that'd be fun

Like this one eBay link Possibly the ultimate wolf in sheeps clothing?

Way out of my price range already...but boy that would be fun. Worth it just for the noise if nothing else!

Sure miss that about the States...V8's everywhere!

Never seen one of them before...nearly bid on an orange Polonez last year though (wish I had!)...interesting.

Will be curious to see what that fetches.
