Lada officially returning to UK

Maybe.

To sell for £5,000 as an "austerity car".

Apparently, Lada's were imported through Canada, and there was a large lot in Newfoundland where they were sorted and went through customs.

I remember seeing quite a few Ladas and Nivas in the '80's (in Canada), but none now -- I can't even find one in Auto Trader.

Early Niva Reviews

Popular Science (which I used to love as a kid) recently put their archives online. Of course this is one of the first things I searched for:

Those are good rendering times. My projects are usually only 10 minutes, but they take up to 6 hours to render because of all the compositing, colour correction, and the source files are HD. I also compress to WMV or MP4 as my corporate clients only play things off of notebooks. If you're making a D...

That's right for DVD-quality mpeg-2 (could compress a bit further though, to fit more on a DVD).

What's the purpose? Do you want to edit it further? Play it in a standard DVD player? Play it on the computer (or newer DVD players?) Put in on YouTube?

I edit professionally (and on Vegas no less -- the Niva of PC NLEs!). You can re-import into Vegas, edit the ends, and then re-render. If you pick the EXACT setting you rendered the original file with, it will just copy what was already rendered but not edited -- so the rendering period will be minu...

Just a few days, most of which was waiting for the block and head to be cleaned and machined. Disassembly took a few hours, and assembly less than a day (including new rad and wheel bearings.) Cylinders overbored and larger pistons installed. Still need to do the transmission. Otherwise it's a lot q...

Here's the article. Officials at the factory where Medvedev's limousine was assembled were so confident in the level of safety provided by the vehicle that they placed the designers inside the car while soldiers shot rocket-propelled grenades at it -- a tradition that dates back to the Stalin era.
